4-Deck to 8-Deck Blackjack Strategy Explained

Blackjack (sometimes called twenty-one or vingt-et-un) is a game in which players compete against the dealer. The player and dealer each receive one card, and then another card is dealt face up to determine who has the highest total value.

If the player's total is higher than the dealer's, he wins. If both totals are equal, it's called a tie; if the player has more than 21 points, he loses.

Players bet on their own hands using money provided by other players. They can also bet against themselves (a “pair splitting” strategy), which means they split their two cards into two hands with separate bets on each hand. One for each card in your hand plus any additional bets you have placed on one of these hands or both hands combined!

1. The Basics of Blackjack

These are a set of rules that can be applied in any blackjack game, regardless of whether it’s a single-deck or multi-deck game and regardless of whether you’ve got tens or aces up.

Basic strategy is easy to learn: just memorize all the winning hands, as well as some important losing hands (like 16 vs 10). Mastering it will go a long way towards helping you play online blackjack for real money and land consistent rewards. But it can be difficult to apply basic strategy at the table in a precise manner because we’re human beings, not robots. You can get tired after several hours of gameplay and start making mistakes. When fatigue sets in — you can end up forgetting things such as what cards have already been played.

Having a basic strategy lets you know exactly how much you need to bet on each hand so you won't lose money over time. The best part is, this approach works at both online and land-based casinos.

2. The Martingale System and Counting Cards

Now that you know how to apply and use a basic strategy, let’s look at some more advanced styles of play.

The Martingale system

When you’re playing blackjack for real money, the most popular (and effective) betting system is called "Martingale," and it works like this:

1 - Place your first wager on blackjack (if your hand has no value).

2 - If you lose, double your bet and continue playing. For example, if you previously bet $10 but lost, increase the bet size to $20. Carry on doubling your bets until you win.

3 - So, let’s say you’ve lost twice and won once i.e. L ($10) L ($20) W ($40), your net earnings should come up to $10.

This strategy ensures that you’ll always walk away with something even though you’re hit with a continuous stream of losses. While some may say that extended losses can leave you out of pocket, the odds of that occurring are relatively low.

Card Counting

Card counting is a strategy that helps you win at blackjack. It involves keeping track of the cards that have already been played, and using this information to decide when to bet more or less.

You simply keep track of how many tens, aces, and face cards you've seen so far (tens are worth ten points; aces are worth one point). If there are more tens than queens in play, for example, then it's likely that there will be more tens still left in the deck.

If there's an even number of tens and queens, then odds say that another queen will come out next. Because there would have been twice as many tens if it weren't for whatever other card was dealt along with them (i.e., four tens would equal two queens).

So, by comparing the number of tens seen versus queens seen during gameplay (plus any numbers above ten), players can get an idea as to whether they should be betting more or less at any given time.

No matter what strategy you use, the house will always have an edge. The more you play, the more likely it is that the casino will make money from you. That said, blackjack is a game of chance and skill—not luck—so don't be afraid to experiment!

3. Know When to Walk Away

Another important strategy that helps you make money playing blackjack is learning how to walk away. That’s right. Even if you’ve hit a winning streak, you should know when it’s time to pocket your winnings and leave.

Remember: your ultimate goal at the table is to make money and keep it. So once you hit your target, walk away and come back another day. As difficult as it seems, this is truly the best way to win at blackjack.
