On January 28th, the 17th weekly tournament of MTT Sports concluded in spectacular fashion, with new dynamics shaping the competition this week.
MTT Sports is an emerging esports platform dedicated to bringing the MTT project to the Olympics. All tournaments on the platform are free, with no financial investment required from players. The platform is hosting a 100-week series, offering a weekly prize pool of 1 BTC for global online competitions. The top 48 players of each event share the BTC prize. To date, 17 weeks have passed, with a total of 17 BTC (around $170,000) awarded.
The Week 17 MTT Sports tournament attracted 25,000 players from around the world. Ultimately, Russian player "Drovosek" took the top spot and earned 0.35 BTC (about $35,000). Vietnamese players "Bethao" and "phuonganh" claimed second and third place, earning 0.2 BTC and 0.1 BTC, respectively.
The prize pool results showed dominance from Thailand, Ukraine, and Russia. These three countries accounted for half of the top 48 spots, with 14 players from Thailand, 11 from Ukraine, and 9 from Russia making it into the prize circle. Taiwan’s strong performance in previous weeks drew attention, but this time, no Taiwanese players reached the prize pool.
Notably, players from Colombia and Venezuela made impressive breakthroughs this week. Colombian player "phuonganh" and Venezuelan "FrancesquAA" finished in 21st and 31st place, earning approximately $500 and $400, respectively.
As for the cumulative prize pool, after 17 weeks, Thailand has accumulated 5.049 BTC (around $51,000), while Taiwanese players, with six weeks of championships, have earned a total of 3.451 BTC, ranking second.
The prizes for this week's tournament have been successfully distributed. By continuing the free weekly tournaments, MTT Sports will be giving away an additional 83 BTC in the coming weeks. No entry fees, just real rewards.
