Corona Resort and Casino Vietnam reopens

Corona Resort and Casino (pictured in a file photo) – a gaming complex located on Vietnam’s Phu Quoc island – has announced on its official website that operations at the resort and gaming facilities recommenced on Friday (May 8), after a month-long pause amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The announcement, in Vietnamese, indicated that the complex would launch fresh incentive programmes and amenities to serve tourists from wherever they hail.

When the venue launched in January 2019, the management had confirmed to GGRAsia that the property’s casino was permitted to serve economically-qualified local players under a three-year pilot scheme of the Vietnam government.

Corona Resort and Casino had initially stated on its website that the property was to be closed from April 1 to April 15 to help tackle the Covid-19 threat. That shutdown was then extended, according to the message on the website.

The Vietnam government had given guidance that vigilance – and so-called social distancing measures – were still required even if restrictions were lifted.
