THE VENETIAN RESORT OBSERVES WORLD DAY AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS BY TURNING TOWER SIGNS BLUE

The Venetian® Resort Las Vegas and Sands® Expo will turn exterior tower signs blue in observance of the United Nations-sponsored World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on Friday, July 30, 2021.

World Day Against Trafficking in Persons (WDATP) was designated in 2013 by the United Nations to “raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and for the promotion and protection of their rights.” According to the UN, every country is affected by human trafficking. In addition, women make up 46% and girls make up 19% of all victims of trafficking, and globally, one in every three victims is a child.

This year’s WDATP theme “Victims’ Voices Lead the Way,” focuses on survivors and the role they play in the fight against human trafficking.

In 2018, Las Vegas Sands® launched Project Protect, a comprehensive global initiative to accelerate its performance in promoting responsible gaming, preventing financial crimes and supporting counter-trafficking measure. As a global umbrella program to build defenses against these issues, Project Protect coalesces the company’s efforts around policy and procedural enhancements in each of the core areas and introduces comprehensive Team Member training to build lasting solutions that meet and exceed government regulations and standard industry performance.
