Rank and Grosvenor Casinos has appointed industry veteran, Peter Turpin, to the post of Venue Director at The Victoria Casino in London. Peter will be responsible for the running and management of Grosvenor Casinos’ flagship London property, affectionately known as ‘The Vic.’
The iconic casino, based on Edgware Road, has served Londoners for over 50 years. Spanning three floors, with a one-of-a-kind al fresco rooftop gaming terrace, ‘The Loft’, and hosting some of Europe’s biggest tournaments in its world renowned ‘Poker Room’, The Vic is one of the most established and best loved casinos in the UK. In an ever-changing market full of challenges, this move will strengthen the leadership of the casino to deliver on the future needs of its diverse customer base.

Peter will join the business this month in a brand-new role in the Rank Group structure, reflecting the importance of the central London casino to the wider business. Grosvenor has ambitious plans and an active investment programme to re-invigorate London, and Peter will be a huge part of this plan by heading up the flagship site. Grosvenor Casinos' rigorous investment programme has already seen the newly refurbished Gloucester Road and Bayswater open this year and the London estate can expect further investment and development throughout 2023 and beyond.
As part of his new role, Peter will be responsible for ensuring that The Vic maintains its stature within the London gaming market while celebrating its iconic heritage as a leading casino venue.
Peter began his career at Rank in 1989 as an Assistant Manager, working his way through positions before becoming Operations Director of the Nightclub Division. Prior to rejoining Rank this month, Peter was Chief Operating Officer at Metropolitan Gaming, formerly Caesars Entertainment EMEA, and has also previously headed up Caesars’ top UK casino, The Empire Casino in London.
Peter Turpin commented on his new position at Grosvenor Casinos: “After many years working with other brands within the sector, it is exciting to be returning to Rank at such an exciting time for the business.
The Vic is a well-loved venue in London, as an avid poker player myself, it is held in high regard in the market for poker and offering a unique casino environment. I am looking forward to working with the team at Grosvenor to shape the next phase of The Vic’s history.”
Debbie Husband, Managing Director, Grosvenor Casinos, commented on the appointment: “We are excited to welcome Peter to The Vic. Peter brings with him experience spanning 30 years in the gaming and hospitality businesses. We have an ambitious programme to reinvigorate the Grosvenor Casinos estate and having exceptional leadership in our flagship property is critical.”
